May I Have This Dance?

Dancing has been a part of cultures and societies that predates the modern-day era, so throw away your dance shoes and lace up your sneakers in preparations for not only the Ajvar 5K run/walk but also the Zumba dance warm up! This Zumba dance will take place 30 minutes before the start of the race and will be a great full body warm up.

You must be thinking: how can a dance be used as a warm up for a 5K? It is not an uncommon thought, but don’t worry because we have your answers:

Yes Zumba is dancing, but it is not the classical ballroom slow slide that comes to mind. Zumba is a rigorous and cardiovascular enduring activity that serves as a full-body workout, which is a perfect way to warm up for the Ajvar 5K run/walk because running and walking are also full-body workouts! Zumba is a compilation of different Latin dance styles with different types of music. The dances include Salsa, Reggaeton, Flamenco, Tango, Cha-Cha, Samba and Merengue along with their respective music, but the music can also include more modern styles such as HipHop, Pop and/or Rock.

The music will be upbeat, fun and uniting for the Ajvar 5K team and your community! Don’t worry, before each dance the instructor will go over the moves step-by-step to ensure the crowd knows how to begin each dance circuit.

Regardless of your dance abilities, keep in mind that the Zumba warm up serves as the pregame to the race, and know that this Zumba dance will serve as a fun and engaging event for everyone participating or volunteering in the Ajvar 5K. This dance will definitely help warm up the runners and walkers, so if any of you are nervous about your dance performance we have included a link below for you to watch a Zumba dance video and know what to expect.

We thank you all once again for your contributions toward the Ajvar 5K, we cannot wait to see you at the race! #UnitedWeCan
